Effect on plants -

Named Issues
Potassium uptake (7)
Sulphur uptake (7)
Nitrogen boost (7)
Spring flowering in trees. Late frost (283)
Potato seed bath (1050)

General Appearance

Roots
To take up potassium-502 evening, 506 morning (7)
To take up sulphur-502 evening, 508 morning. (7)
The preparation of yarrow, seen in its connection with potassium, acts on the physical level on the roots and supporting tissues bringing a vertical impulse in the woody part of the plant. From this point of view all the plants that are unable to carry themselves such as the vine and cucurbits betray a lack of these forces. (250)
... spraying seed potatoes with a seed-bath of 502/503 .. originated with Harald Kabisch ... 'we were very happy with this mix' .. add 1g of each of 502/503 to 2 litres hand-warm rainwater. Leave for six days, stir for 10 minutes, soak tubers fro 30 minutes, rack up for 6 weeks prior to planting (1050)

Stem/trunk and bark - capillary system
Special care is needed with seed baths for linseed, as linseed will easily go mucilagenous if wetted.. Fibre producing varieties are treated with yarrow (502)... In this particular case cold water is used (2 litres/100 kg) and the bath is sprayed one third 15 minutes apart whilst gently turning the seed with a shovel between treatments. (34)
If you want sulphur and potassium for cell strength and connective tissue, 502 (7)

Leaves
To lift nitrogen-502, 503, 504, 505 evening; 505, 506, 507, 508 morning. (7)

Flowers
Promotes flowering (250)
Yarrow stimulates the spring flowering of trees. Negrisolo used yarrow once in October on a pear tree and it responded by flowering. I tried the same with three plum trees which were wild and came from the same mother plant. Last year they were four years old and until the previous year were still in the vegetative phase. In this period I was using yarrow BD502 for the seed bath in the experimental plot and I was a little over enthusiastic and I decided to use it on one of the plum trees. The treated plum produced many flowers and the other untreated two trees had only four or five flowers. I applied the preparation between the end of February and the beginning of March. When the time for fruiting came there were some fifty plums on the one tree and only one or two on the other trees respectively

Another example is when a late frost ruins the flowering time, then the yarrow BD502 can be used to stimulate another flowering. (283)

Seed
1 - 2 ml in 3 litres of warm water stirred vigourously for five minutes and then left for 24 hours. This is used as a seed bath for rye and grass seed. Plant growth is enhanced .. and germination tends to be faster. Growth is improved and compared to untreated controls these plants prove healthier and give better yields. They are able to cope better with poor weather conditions and develop a stronger and more extensive root system. (42)
We have filled a bladder with fodder beet seed and let it go through the same processs as yarrow, from St John's tide to Michalemas and through the winter until Easter, above and below ground. We then sowed the seed. The beet grew so large that one needed two hands to lift one of them from the soil. (60)
The 502 (5-10 minute stir and let percolate overnight, 24 hours and water or soak seeds) is great for reestablishing the connection between Life/Chem etheric activity and Light/Warmth ether...and consequently opening way to connect with Group I of plants (58)

Notes and Academic Papers
This preparation is aiding where the Astral body is weak and can not take a proper hold on the etheric and physical. It opens the Etheric to receive the astral. (48)
yarrow focuses its operations in liaison to the group-soul of plants.... we also find confirmation of ... the purifying and vivifying influence of yarrow .... We repeat that the yarrow preparation allows the union of what is above ... with what is below. It is an extremely mercurial and therapeutic preparation because a disturbed relation between above and below is the origin of all disease. (250)
Sprayed two or three days before the Holy Nights (24th December) after being stirred for one hour this opens up the land to the forces of those holy nights. Bladders should be buried in winter at 60cm in Europe, 70-80cm in the Americas, and about 40-50cm deep in Asia. This brings cosmic nutrition to the earth. (1538)
It can remedy weaknesses in the astral body. "Like sympathetic people in human society, who have a favourable influence by their mere presence and not by anything they say, so yarrow, in a district where it is plentiful, works beneficially by its mere presence.[R Steiner]" (20)

Effect on Soil -

Soil characterisation
Mycorrhiza (58)
Detoxifying (294)

Soil surface

Top soil
... addresses itself in a specific way to the realtionship between nitrogen and potassium in the soil. (34)
The yarrow preparation yielded the highest mycorrhizal fungi readings Elaine Ingham of SFI tested in her laboratories, and these mycorrhizal fungi are some of the most important organisms for the formation of humus and the storing of energy and nutrients in an insoluble but available state in the soil. (58)
My radionic experiments show 502 to be one of the best BD preps for detoxifying the soil. (294)

quickens and refreshes the soil, making good exploitation.... that the more distant cosmic substances - silicic acid, lead etc which comes to the Earth in homeopathic quantities - might be caught up and received [R Steiner]. (20)

Through each stage of development, the potassium is increasingly released from its terrestrial nature, becoming more refined and rarefied as it is dissolved. This process culminates in the flower: the part of the plant that opens up to the influences streaming in from the cosmos. The yarrow preparation seeks to preserve this moment of flowering and the forces that underlie it. It revitalises soil that has been exhausted through over-cultivation..... The purpose of the yarrow preparation and, in a modified way, the other compost preparations too, is to bring a ‘light effect’ to the decaying organic materials arising on the farm. This enables these farm manures to become sensitive to the cosmic archetypes that exist beyond space and time. (1565)
The Achillea preparation was specifically able to improve the N status of the microbial community as indicated by the higher catabolic use of D‐glucosamine as well as the amino acids γ‐aminobutyric acid, L‐cysteine, and L‐leucine. The reason for different effects of the sole Achillea preparation and all 6 preparations cannot be explained by the current study. (1828)

BD 502: Works with sulphur, potassium and fluid flow. Recycles urea into protein. Good relationship with copper. (7)

The nature and meaning of the yarrow preparation is connected with the nature and meaning of potassium. In the living processes of the plant – and with yarrow this is archetypal – potassium increasingly liberates itself from the determinism of nature. It is able to rise a step closer towards its true cosmic nature because of the special sulphur configuration in the yarrow flowers. This may be called the level of ‘active working’. In the field of tension that exists between sulphur and potassium in the living realm, potassium is active in the process that leads to the formation of leaf protein. This protein formation ceases almost entirely in the flower before continuing with the forming of seeds. In the flower, therefore, the potassium process is released from its living activity of protein formation. It refines itself in this germ-like state, expressed in the open gesture of the flower, and then begins to mineralise as the plant dies back, coming under the influence once more of the determinism of its physical properties. It is this moment of flowering that the preparation seeks to preserve. Through having been encased in the stag’s bladder and undergone the further stages of preparation, the transformed potassium process that culminates in the flower continues to be active. The earthly substance of potassium is therefore not only raised into the living realm but into the sphere of sensation- bearing life. (1565)
